Employment & Volunteering Opportunities at Wild Rose Farm
Wild Rose Farm empowers children to find and nurture relationships with nature, and to build a sense of unity and belonging with the land, the animals, and people that walk upon it. Our intention is simple: to nourish children with the sights, sounds, tastes and feel of this earth and the joy that abounds from simply being outside. We work with a Land-to-Craft Curriculum engaging children practically and artistically with their hands in a farm and forest setting.
Year-Round and Part-Time Seasonal Employment
Wild Rose Farm is currently looking for a new year-round team member! Our current staff has a wide variety of skills and is willing to re-order their responsibilities for the right collaborative co-creator. We can offer more hours to a person who has a mixture of practical land-to-craft teaching and administrative skills. Everyone who applies should have a love for practical engagement with the land, and a passion for our mission of connecting children to the earth and each other through our Land-to-Craft Curriculum.
Year-Round Administrative, Marketing and Fundraising Employment
Applicants with Administrative, Marketing and Fundraising Skills should expect to spend time training with our current Administrator. Administrative work schedule depends on teaching calendar (e.g., being present to greet parents who need to fill out forms), and a regular office hour schedule that allows for efficient workings between colleagues, personal and organizational needs. Seasonal and Year-Round Practical Skills Teaching Employment
Applicants with Land-to-Craft Curriculum Teaching Skills need to be able to teach during some or all of the following times: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am - 1pm, and Monday-Thursday 3:00pm - 5:30pm, 8am - 3pm M-F, for five week of Summer Camp during Summer 2027. Applicants should plan for .5-2 hours per teaching session of prep time before and after teaching hours as needed for Fall, Winter and Spring programming. Summer Camp has more prep time as more children generally are in attendance. Preparation time for teaching is generally folded into a weekly hourly average for year round staff. Seasonal Farm and Garden Employment
From time to time, we need support with farming and gardening. In the past this has been a teen who was part of one of our programs who was mentored into working with us professionally for various seasonal projects, e.g., preparing summer and fall programming, and/or scheduled such that one of our year-round employees can go on a well deserved vacation (usually in August or February). This work can cross over with teaching work if the work is being done during programming; it starts with supervision, but once the employee knows the rhythms of farm and how the farmers do things, can be done unsupervised. Work must be scheduled in accordance with weather, which can be unpredictable; that is the life of a farm. Hard working teens with a love of the outdoors are encouraged to apply. Volunteer Opportunities
Service Learning Volunteers (age 13-21)
Service Learning Volunteers will engage with day-to-day farm and craft activities, developing practical skills related to our land-to-craft curriculum (farm-to-table, grass-to-wool-fibre-craft, forest-to-wood-craft, etc.), and in some cases, learning to teach these practical skills to younger children. Service learning positions are currently available for the farm (Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-1); afternoons and weekends) and our Afternoon Program (Monday-Thursday 3-6). Other times during the school day may be able to be arranged.

Contact Elizabeth if an alternative to a hand written letter is appropriate. A regular commitment to volunteer for one or more of our sessions (Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer) is encouraged and certificates of completion will be given to Service Learning Volunteers.
Adult Volunteers
During our programming we create a feeling of community and heart-to-heart learning often experienced in the villages of our ancestors world-wide. Volunteers find that because of this special feeling created at Wild Rose Farm, they have an opportunity to fill a much needed gap in their life and in the lives of the children by becoming, in the eyes of a child, an adult with special skills worthy of imitation. As such, our volunteers become farmers, crafts people or caretakers that can share practical skills and a perspective on life that is all too often missing in a culture where children spend most of their time separated from most of the adults in the place where they live, in a culture where communities, and sometimes even extended families, are lucky if they can gather together more than a couple of times per year.
Adult Volunteers are encouraged to serve the Wild Rose Farm community build and maintain facilities or support one or more of our programs when there is a committed interest to volunteer on a regular basis for a period of time. Volunteers pay for a required background check if there is contact with children during programming hours.
